Error when adding SharePoint Powershell snapin -


when run add-pssnapin microsoft.sharepoint.powershell

i know sounds dumb have searched google 12 hours trying add snapin. im writting first shell script , need getting off start

what sharepoint version, 2010 or 2013?
powershell version? ($psversiontable.psversion)

sharepoint 2010 expects powershell version 2, can running powershell -version 2

if dont have sharepoint installed on pc message.
