sql - Stored Procedure vs Direct Query in Excel -

i have excel file select 1100 rows 5 columns of data. columns 5 digits long , integers. using macro connect sql server database , insert these rows 1 maybe 2 tables. doing , closes connection. user opens excel file has rows, clicks button , executes macro.

my question is, should query written in excel since simple , merely inserts data few tables. or more efficient calling stored procedure , passing of values in stored procedure , have allocate values go in different tables. when mean efficient, mean quickest? know take few seconds complete. feel going stored procedure point along path data has before reaches tables. wrong? thoughts?

there advantages using stored procedures in sql server. 1 sql server precompiles , saves query execution plan, increases performance. current method, sql server need generate execution plan each time. stored procedures can reduce client/server network traffic.

so, though may seem point along path, can faster.
