according announcements made @ google i/o 2014, technically speaking, wear-device stand-alone device: can work without connected phone , can run own applications (but have installed using paired android-phone).

but while wear-device stand-alone won't have fun it, when don't pair phone , use accessory: without network-connection, there won't can (except showing current time , how many steps have taken).
