Should I learn Swift or Objective C for iOS -

i've learnt objective c purpose of app building ios. in fact started tinkering week first attempt @ app, unaware swift , reading text blog on wwdc.

going forward, should looking build apps in swift rather objective c now? , languages similar?

i ask because i've learnt syntax objective-c , done little playing around it, dropping isn't of big deal me. what's more important use right language. got first mac few months ago , i've not had experience apple thought i'd go place people far more experienced round point me in right direction. don't know if swift means it's objective-c dropped entirely @ point.

this answer won't stand test of time, of today:

  • objective-c around , supported long time. (apple has massive amount of objective-c source code it's not going port swift time soon.)
  • almost ios tutorials, examples, , books use objective-c.
  • almost ios-specific third-party source code might want use implemented in objective-c.
  • it's easier use c , c++ libraries objective-c swift.
  • there many objective-c experts can from. there few swift experts.
  • the swift language , standard library not documented.

stick objective-c now. when you're comfortable ios sdk , swift better documented, can consider learning swift.

update

it's been 4 months , opinion on hasn't changed. if you're looking more recent answer, hacker news thread asked , answered today: is swift ready production?
